How Craniosacral Therapy Helps with Trauma Recovery

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that supports the body’s natural healing processes—especially when it comes to trauma recovery. Trauma, whether emotional or physical, often becomes stored in the body, affecting the nervous system and creating chronic tension, pain, or emotional imbalances. CST works to release these patterns by focusing on the craniosacral system—comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord.


One of the key benefits of CST is its ability to calm the nervous system. Trauma can leave the body in a heightened state of alertness (fight, flight, or freeze), which may persist long after the event has passed. Through subtle manipulations, the therapist helps guide the body into a deep state of relaxation, allowing the nervous system to reset and regulate. By gently working with areas of restriction, the therapy may bring awareness to unresolved trauma, facilitating deeper emotional healing without the need to relive painful memories.
